2021-08-30 Asian Kickboxing Confederation congratulate WAKO European Kickboxing Federation for inclusion of Kickboxing in 2023 European Games

On 30 August 2021, the European Olympic Committee announced inclusion of Kickboxing and Beach Soccer increasing the total number of sports for 2023 European Games to 20.

The European Olympic committee in its press release among others declared :

“Kickboxing, which has recently been proposed for full Olympic status, brings the total number of sports for 2023 so far to 20. The exciting, modern, contact sport is already part of the Asian Games, African Games, World Games and Combat Games, so the inclusion into the European Games was a natural next step.” 

Mr. Nasser Nassiri, President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation declared : “The Kickboxing became part of Olympic Games in Asia back in 2007 when it was included 2nd Asian Indoor Games in 2007 in Macau under governance of Asian Kickboxing Confederation and we are proud of the success which we brought to our members in Asia making their dreams became true and being part of Olympic family in Asia.”

President Nassiri added: We are glad that the fact that Kickboxing was already since 2007 part of Asian Games could bring significative support for inclusion of Kickboxing in 2023 European Games. We congratulate WAKO European Kickboxing Federation, European national Federation and athletes and congratulate all of them and wish them all the best.”
