2022-02-22 Inclusion of Kickboxing sport as official sport in 2023 Cambodia 32nd SEA Games.

The Asian Kickboxing Confederation is pleased to announce the inclusion of Kickboxing sport as official sport in 2023 Cambodia 32nd SEA Games.

The inclusion decision take place after various exchanges between Mr. Nasser Nassiri, the President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation and the SEA Games Organizing committee during last three months.

After successful inclusion and organisation of Kickboxing competition in 2019 Philippines 30th SEA Games, the Asian Kickboxing Confederation was able to include Kickboxing in 2021 Vietnam 31st SEA Games but since the inclusion in 2023 Cambodia SEA Games was under review which has been now officially announced.

Since 2007, the Asian Kickboxing Confederation had included and conducted with great success the Kickboxing competition in different Asian Games such as 2007 Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games, 2009 Thailand Martial Arts Games,  2009 Vietnam 3rd Indoor Games, 2013 Incheon 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, 2017 Ashgabat 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, 2019 SEA GAMES.

These are fruits of hard work of Asian Kickboxing Confederation management team lead by the Mr. Nasser Nassiri, the President of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation  for last 25 years which contributed to credibility of WAKO and obtaining all qualification and recognition including GAISF memberships and IOC recogntion.

Our Asian members can now take benefit from these achievements in their respectives countries with governement and sport authorities support to develop and promot Kickboxing sport.

Mr. Nasser Nassiri, the President of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation declared : We are glad that we have been able to promote our sport properly and extend the development in South East Asian countries. The Asian Kickboxing Confederation had assisted the Cambodian NOC and facilitated their athletes’ participation in the Philippines 30th SEA Games 2019 kickboxing competition in which the Cambodian kickboxing athletes earned 3 bronze medals for their first participation. Since, the Cambodia Kickboxing Federation has been established and had been recognized by the sport authorities and their members were able to take part in different seminar conducted by Asian Kickboxing Confederation.

President Nassiri added: The confirmation of inclusion, will give to our members in the region the unique and great opportunity to develop and promote our sport in national level with support of government and sport authorities.
Euncheon Jeong Ph. D, the Technical Delegate of Kickboxing competition of upcoming 2021 Vietnam 31st SEA Games declared : On behalf of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation, I congratulate our members from the South East Asian countries and wish them good luck for upcoming Kickboxing competition of the 31st SEA Games which will be held in Vietnam from 6th to 13th may 2022.

Ph. D Euncheon Jeong added: I would like to thanks President Nassiri for his continued support and hard international development works during last two decades and in particular since initial application  for inclusion of Kickboxing in prestigious South East Asian  (SEA) Games in 2015. These  hard efforts brought the credibility also to all of our members around the world and had reinforced their position in their respective countries for development and promotion of Kickboxing sport.

Asian Kickboxing Confederation continue its duty and mission as the body in charge of Kickboxing in Asian continent as granted by the recognition of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA)  and in conformity with Olympic movement.
