2024-01-28 The Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam held its General Assembly

The Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam held its General Assembly on 27 January 2024 at the Lotte Hotel & Resorts in Hanoi with the participation of 71 official voting delegates and 24 guests. Among the 71 official delegates, there were 33 representatives from different provinces and cities of Vietnam, 11 business representatives, 11 coaches and 12 referees/judges and 4 athletes.
At the General Assembly, Mr. Vu Duc Thinh, former head of the boxing department (Sports and Physical Education Department), who served as director of Kickboxing Vietnam, was unanimously elected President at the same time as the members of the executive committee.
Kickboxing was introduced in March 2009 by Mr. Nasser Nassiri, President of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation, on the occasion of the organization of the 3rd Indoor Games hosted by Vietnam in November 2009. The Vietnam team also participated in the 1st Martial Arts Games which were organized by Thailand in August 2009, few months before.
Since then, the Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam has organized various national events, including national championships, national club championships and national youth championships, rapidly increasing the number of athletes participating in kickboxing training in approximately 40 provinces.
After 15 years of development and efforts, the Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam has left a great reputation on international stages, with athletes winning nearly 15 gold medals in the last 3 SEA Games in addition to 8 medals (2 Gold, 3 Silvers and 3 Bronze) obtained during the Asian Kickboxing Championships held in December 2022 in Bangkok (Thailand).
Such an increase in development over the past decade finally brought an end to the temporary situation of Kickboxing in Vietnam. Thanks to the government decree and the recognition of the Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam by the relevant Vietnam Sports Authorities.
President Nassiri, who oversaw the development since the introduction of Kickboxing in Vietnam in 2009, declared: The inclusion of kickboxing in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in addition to the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games promoted by the Olympic Council of Asia are key milestones in the development of kickboxing in Vietnam and elsewhere. the region.
President Nassiri added: Vietnam also hosted the 31st SEA Games, in which kickboxing was included and successfully organized, after the great organization of the 30th SEA Games by the Philippines in December 2019.
Speaking after being elected President of the Kickboxing Federation of Vietnam, Mr. Vu Duc Thinh stressed that the success of today’s Congress once again affirms the prosperity of socializing cultural activities, education, physical training and sports of the Party and State, actively contributing to the development of the country’s culture, sports, and tourism.
Mr. Thinh added: I am glad to confirm the participation of our athletes under auspices sports delegations of Vietnam Olympic Committee in upcoming Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games which will be held in November 2024 in Bangkok (Thailand). (Thailand).
