2021-10-20 Postponement of 6th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games

Today, the Olympic Council of Asia announced that the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Bangkok and Chonburi Province in Thailand from 10th to 19th March 2022 have been postponed to 2023.
The new dates of the OCA’s 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be from 17th to 26th November 2023.
In the letter addressed to the Thailand NOC President Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon October 20, OCA declared : “The OCA fully understands and respects the decision of the NOC of Thailand, the Thailand Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Organising Committee and the Royal Thai Government to postpone the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games to be held from 10th to 19th March 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.”
“The OCA is also very happy to confirm the new dates for the 6th AIMAG which will now be held from 17th to 26th of November 2023.”
“Please be assured of our support and cooperation in organising a very successful 6th AIMAG in Bangkok and Chonburi in November 2023.”
The sports programme for the 6th AIMAG comprises 29 medal sports and two demonstration sports.
Nasser Nassiri, the President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation held urgent conference call with the executives Board of Asian Kickboxing Confederation immediately after OCA announcement as the Kickboxing competition of 6th AIMAG is one of the major activities of the Asian Confederation.
The executive member of the Board of Directors of Asian Kickboxing COnfederation unanimously agreed to have the Asian Kickboxing Championships during March 2022 and probably the same date which the Kickboxing competition of 6th AIMAG were scheduled.
Nasser Nassiri, the President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation declared: “We fully understand and support the decision of Olympic Council of Asia which aims at serving the common interests of all related National Olympic Committees and ensuring the safety and health of the athletes and all relevant participants.
The President Nassiri added: Our Asian members are already in preparation of the prestigious Kickboxing event of 6th AIMAG, the reason more to serve their preparation for Asian Kickboxing Championships. I am sure that we will have the wonderful, high quality Asian Kickboxing Championships as we had previosuly.
Mr. Sian Zahedi, the Secretary General of Asian Kickboxing Confederation declared: the Special committee set by the Board of Directors to manage any eventual change in the date and place of the Asian Championships is already received the proposal from Malaysia Kickboxing Association, Kyrgyzstan Kickboxing Federation and others for hosting our next Asian Championships which the organising committee of Asian Kickboxing Confederation currently reviewing.
Mr. Zahedi added: We are making an announcement soon and inform our members about the dates and place scheduled for the upcoming Asian Championships.
Mr. Euncheon Jeong, the Technical Delegate of Kickboxing Competition of 6th AIMAG declared : “We understand the reason for the decision of postponing the event and fully support it. the Asian Kickboxing Confederation spent almost 2 years preparing all logistic for the Kickboxing competition and we are ready for the challenge whatever dates is decided for holding the Kickboxing competition of 6th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games”.
