Asian Kickboxing Confederation Championships 2018, 14 countries met in Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan)

Once again “A great success” for Asian members!

After the successful organization of Asian Championships in April 2017 which was postponed from 2016 to early 2017, Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO ASIA) leaded by its President Mr. Nasser Nassiri with collaboration of Kyrgyzstan Kickboxing Federation leaded by its President Mr. Aleksandr Voinov, organized the Asian Kickboxing Confederation Championships from the 5-12 May in the Choplpon-Ata known also as Issyk-Kul area, 14 Countries from the 5 different zones of the Asian Continent (East, South East, South, Central and West Asia) met each other to find their best fighters in kickboxing sport and its disciplines such as Full Contact, Low Kick, K1 Rules, Light Contact, Kick Light, Point Fighting and musical forms.

Many countries such as Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Nepal were not able to obtain the entry visa on time. Turkmenistan was late for the application and administration works which are needed to join the competition and present their country officially.

Organizing Committee of Asian Kickboxing Confederation took high responsibility to assure that the Asian Championships meets all international standard requirements, including sports hall, transportation, press presence, live broadcasting, etc.

Once again, the hard work of the organizing committee of Asian Kickboxing Confederation and its Chairman paid off in the excellent conditions throughout the competition.

In cooperation with the Technical Delegate of competition Mr. Euncheon Jeong (KOR) and Technical Delegate of competition schedule management Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Jens Walbersdorf (GER), Asian Kickboxing Confederation could benefice of the international standard for both ring and tatami sports as well as musical forms.

Many political personalities visited the competition, including the different Ambassadors in duty in Bishkek such as Islamic Republic of Iran Ambassador His Excellency Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani enjoying the quality of the excellent Asian Championships.

Opening Ceremony

The new built sporthall in Cholpon-Ata was almost fully booked during the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday 8th May.

The Chairman of the organizing committee of the Asian Championships 2018, Mr. Nassiri greeted the participants and guests. The musicians and dancers entered in the sports hall and presented a great show of Kyrgyz’s traditional.

Mr. Nasser Nassiri, President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO Asia) opened the event with great speech welcoming all participants and presents all delegation countries members.

Kickboxing competition and Asian Power on High Level

The athletes were registered from 14 countries and competed in 73 events (categories Men and Women) in 6 Kickboxing fighting Styles in both ring and tatami and 5 Styles of Musical Forms (3 Men and 2 Women) during 4 complete days competition.

During the four complete days competition the excellent work were performed by Organizing Committee members Mr. Qasim Al Wasity (IRQ), Mr. Kong, SunTaek, (KOR), and in particular its Chairman Mr. Nasser Nassiri supervising the Asian referees and judges and their collaboration under the direction of Mr. Euncheon Jeong (KOR).

The highlight was the ring sports combat during these days, Full-contact, Low-kick and K1 clashes were on high level. The best fighters from China once again confirmed their high Technical quality and many others dazzled the auditorium with excellent performances in their kickboxing category. Asian Kickboxing Confederation once again showed the Asian Power strength and the high quality of the both ring and tatami fighters.

Strong number of participation from Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Tajikistan and Iraq in both ring and tatami styles brought the competitively at the highest level of the championships.

Medal Standing

After four complete days of competition, Iran emerged as the most successful country in the Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO Asia) Championships 2018 at the sport hall on last Friday evening with 28 gold, 23 silver and 10 bronze followed.

The home country Kyrgyzstan won 24 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze medals to second the medal table. Iran was the most successful team on last day of the competition and Tajikistan Kickboxing Federation leaded by its President Mr. Mirsaid Yakhyaev confirmed the high level of Tajikistan athletes by obtaining 15 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Kyrgyzstan and Iran were the top two sides in the final medals standings, followed by Tajikistan in third and United Arab Emirates in 4th Place and Iraq at 5th Place. Republic of China with two gold and two silver medals stand at 7th Place behind Chinese Taipei with two gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
